XML for an electronic medical record

Dan,this was a good way to start...i am looking to design an electronic medical record that uses xml. i realized that a patient's chart is nothing more than a collection of pages. Some charts in our office run into the hundreds of pages over decades. Some of those pages are data about the patient, his/her insurance coverage and other biographical and contact information and the remainder is interactions with his/her physician. Would there be a way to design an xml "intranet" for each patient (or a collection of pages) that serve the same function as the chart of the patient and that can all be linked together under the patient's unique name/date of birth/etc. All of these "charts" or collection of xml pages would then be linked together under one physician practice. Gathering performance data, billing, or scheduling would involve searching the practice intranet for all the pages that satisfy a given criteria. Financial data could also be gathered this way...any thoughts?shash

I am not sure where to post this text...so please excuse me if it was posted twice.
